Who is behind these pages, and how they are made

ChatCPA is built by Nicholas Miller, CPA, licensed in Oregon (license #14907, which you can check on the Oregon Board of Accountancy’s public license lookup).

He did not pass the exam on the first try, and the bank is built around that: 67 and 65 on REG before an 82, two 74s on FAR before a 79, and AUD passed, expired and passed again at 87. The score notices are published on the teach-back method page.

How a page is made

1. One rule per page. The bank’s 17,658 questions are grouped into 153 topics across FAR, AUD, REG, BAR, ISC and TCP, then into the single rules the questions test. Each rule gets one page, in the format that teaches it best: a worked example, a decision tree, one scenario with one fact changed, a sort table, and so on.
2. Questions are matched to the rule. Every question is checked to confirm it tests the rule of the page it is linked to. Questions that do not fit any single rule appear only in the topic’s mixed drill.
3. Written from the bank itself: that rule’s own questions, answer keys and written explanations, not the open web.
4. A separate check before publishing. Every new question on the page is answered again without the key, and every statement is checked against the bank’s answers. Any disagreement sends the page back for a rewrite. A page that still fails after three attempts is not published.
5. Errors get fixed. If something on a page is wrong, email Nick with the page address. It is corrected or taken down.

What is free

Every page, every rule and the questions on it are free with no account. Each topic also has a mixed drill, with a daily limit per visitor. The full bank, timed testlets and simulations are in the ChatCPA simulator, which you can start free.
